PADnet by Biomedix
The PADnet device from Biomedix is a tool used by healthcare professionals to assess peripheral artery disease (PAD), a condition where narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to the limbs.
PADnet performs three key tests:
- Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI): This test compares blood pressure in the ankles to that in the arms. A low ABI suggests possible blockages in leg arteries, indicating PAD.
- Toe-Brachial Index (TBI): Similar to ABI, TBI compares blood pressure in the toes to that in the arms. It provides additional insights into blood flow in the feet, especially useful for individuals with diabetes.
- Pulse Volume Recordings (PVR): PVR measures changes in blood volume in the legs with each heartbeat. It helps identify areas where blood flow is restricted due to artery blockages.
By performing these tests, PADnet helps clinicians diagnose PAD and assess its severity, guiding appropriate treatment and management strategies for patients.
